Tall of seat (to the vertically challenged!), agile and smooth at cruise - perfectly at home euro-touring and perhaps a bit of mild off-road riding - The Caponord has the ability to travel logging roads through the Sierra's, Rockies, Pyrenees's,  Urals and the Andes AND perhaps one of the best big bores for darting and weaving through traffic on the streets of cities like San Francisco, Copenhagen, Bern, London or Munich!

The stock bike's fuel and ignition mapping leaves a little room for improvement - the stock bike usually has pretty abrupt low speed mapping and cruise is often times flawed by some amount of surging - some bikes, it's really bad - and some, it's not so bothersome -

At any rate, even if there's only a small amount of surging, that indicates that the mapping is pretty far off "best/smoothest  power and that remapping will make a pretty big difference in the riding experience -

To make the bike smoother and more enjoyable (quicker, too!) , we can now, as of Sept. 2002, reprogram the Sagem ECU

Better full throttle and low rpm running, pulls harder everywhere, makes more full throttle power, decreases compression braking effect -  all around, it's more enjoyable to ride.

Oh - and we made that silky smooth 5000 rpm Black Velvet Hole of Smoothness happen on the EVT - just like our well known RSVZ1413 chip does for the Mille!

It is required that we have the bike for 4 to 5 days in order to properly tune every aspect of fuel, ignition and rev limiter.

What we seen is full throttle power increase of 2-4 True HP and even more at part throttle - that feels like more snap and response - giving the power and response that could just possibly encourage "hooliganism" - if one were so inclined.........
That's True, loaded HP on an EC997 eddy current dyno - not silly inertia dyno numbers :--)

Smooth? Significantly smoother and better mileage, too.
(assuming the hooliganess stays in check!)

Thanks Paul Vernon for the use of his Remus equipped Caponord for the couple of months it took to develop the software and hardware! Without that - there still wouldn't be any retuned Caponords, at all!!

As of Oct 5, 02, we are doing a stock exhausted Caponord - Yep - it's cool - much better results that the original ECU mapping, too.
Looking at the same percentage increase over stock - makes more power and even sounds cleaner and crisper - has a little "rap" to it, now!

The Sagem ECU used on the Caponord has separate maps for the front and rear cylinders for injection pulse AND ignition timing, among other maps. That means that, if you have the patience and equipment to properly tune, after you are setup, you can fine tune to the proverbial "T".
