General Technical Support

1.  Can't get front cylinder to run right? Been to several dealers?
Try swapping out the "Booster Sensor" / manifold air pressure sensor (under the seat - far away from the intake!).
They occasionally fail and that affects the ignition timing - It's $250+ so.... try swapping that out before going nuts trying to jet the carbs.

A recent (July 2004) 1400 bike, from a dynojet dealership:
The S49 kit "didn't work" and using their dynojet dyno "A/F Ratio" tuning was, as commonly happens, useless in helping diagnose.
The EC997 4 Gas EGA dyno showed that the mixture was OK - but it had poor combustion efficiency.
It looked like the ignition timing was retarded - (only diagnosable with 4 Gas EGA).
The sensor had failed and the ignition timing wasn't advancing at part throttle.......
It wasn't advancing because the "Boost Sensor" wasn't relaying the proper information back to the ignition box -
Replaced the sensor and tuned the bike - Tuned as a normal bike - needles /4 position and rest of tuning was pretty much as suggested for S49 starting settings -
Hope this helps someone!
Best regards -
Marc

I have installed your Config 10 kit on my VS800, which has Vance and Hines slip-ons, with the quiet baffles installed. I previously had the XXXX kit installed, and the thing ran way too rich, even after lowering the needles (the needle they supply is much shorter than stock!) As you probably are aware, the XXXX kit requires you drill the slide lift holes. Well, after installing your kit with the slightly leaner mains supplied ( I elected to go with the set up you had with the Cobra slip-ons, step by step), the throttle response was great off idle. It used to rev very rich and wet, almost to the point of shutting off. It pulls evenly off idle in second gear, but then it seems to lean out just a tad above mid range. So, after all this, here's my question; Is the bike transitioning too quickly to the mains because of the slides being drilled, and if so, can you compensate for it by dropping/shimming the needles, or should I raise/shim them? Should I go back to the stock mains, or should I try the richer one's in our kit? Or worse yet, did I trash my slides by drilling them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have heard nothing but good things about your products, and judging by the kit I purchased, you guys are awesome! Hope to hear from you soon.

The extension of the laboratory for engines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology was completed in about 1935. Its architect was Rudolf Otto Salvisberg (1882-1940). He had a successful career in Berlin but returned to Switzerland after the advent of the Nazis. His architectural style was somewhat similar to that of Erich Mendelsohn. The staircase of the laboratory is in normal use but well preserved.
