Carb Jetting Kit

Easy to install and tune - no slide drilling.
Adds more low-end / midrange, if the proper main jet is selected, more topend power.
This is one of the kits that we made our reputation on. (Since nobody else made a decent kit)

The XT 600 engine and carbs are used on several different non-Yamaha bikes and people generally buy this kit and start jetting from there.

TECH on the TK carb set

BELOW
is for people jetting the XT550, SRX660 or other bikes, like the MZ that used this carb set. If you are jetting an XT600, it's just to look at, you have all the parts you need in the above Y62 kit.

NOTE to XT550 and SRX660 and other similar engined bike owners:
People have told us that they used our Y62 kit to start to jet the carbs. The carbs and bikes are similar and that's about all we know.
If you can't find a dedicated carb kit, then this kit might be a place to start.

Left side is the "slide carb". Right side the "CV" carb side
Off the float bowl, the brass spigot pointing horizontally. There's usually a black rubber hose that joins the horizontal spigot to the vertical spigot, just to the right and above.
That "vertical spigot" is actually a special "main jet".

The CV carb bore is aprox.30.5mm

The slide carb is oval (ish).
It's 29mm high and 24mm at widest.
It's really 2  24mm diameter bores, slightly "constricted in the middle" to about 23.5mm in the center.

Sorry, I couldn't tell what the original float height was. This carb set had been bounced around for years.
It might be one of those carbs where the float holder ends up parallel to the gasket surface.

The Slide carb uses a jet that is interchangeable with a "393" Series Keihin main jet.

This is the RH CV carb's TK "main jet".
I didn't make these and don't know where to get them.

If for some reason, you feel the need to change the main on the RH carb, you either have to enlarge the metering orifice, or, sneakier and easier -
Enlarge the existing hole larger than the jet you think that you might end up using (decreasing flow restriction) an dthen, for metering, insert a 393 series Keihin jet (or similar) into the rubber hose.

This is a base view of the RH carb's TK main jet.
It's a #130.
The TK pilot jet.

It's was tough to read, but it looked like a "18" oh "48"or something like that.

I know nothing in Mikuni or Keihin that will interchange, so it's drill or solder and drill if you have to change it.
If you find an interchangeable jet, and want to share, email me - email here

Thanks,

Marc

The extension of the laboratory for engines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology was completed in about 1935. Its architect was Rudolf Otto Salvisberg (1882-1940). He had a successful career in Berlin but returned to Switzerland after the advent of the Nazis. His architectural style was somewhat similar to that of Erich Mendelsohn. The staircase of the laboratory is in normal use but well preserved.
